Victor is the Marketing Director at Embraer Commercial Aviation Asia Pacific, responsible for maximizing the potential impact of commercial aircraft sales campaigns within the Asia Pacific region.

Victor has been working at Embraer for more than 10 years. He started as a market analyst in the Market Intelligence Department where he supported the development of regional market understanding for North and Latin America, identifying and developing new business opportunities.

Later he became Senior Strategist primarily responsible for long-term market research, competitive positioning, strategic marketing initiatives and assessment of market demand for current and new products.

Prior to the current position, he was the Head of Market Strategy leading the development, communication and execution for the organization’s global strategic planning.

Victor holds two bachelors, in Business Administration and International Affairs, as well as an MBA from University of Sao Paulo.

Victor lives in Singapore, with his wife and son.

Independent Analyst and Consultant

Brendan Sobie has been working in the aviation industry for over 20 years as a writer, analyst and consultant. He served as chief analyst for CAPA from 2011 to 2019, based in Singapore, and as an editor for Flightglobal from 2000 to 2011, based in the US, Singapore and UK. Brendan is now working as an independent analyst and consultant, having established in 2019 the Singapore-based firm Sobie Aviation.

Brendan has extensive experience covering emerging markets in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia Pacific. He has written over 1,000 in depth analysis reports on emerging aviation markets, focusing on airline strategy and network development. Brendan now conducts studies and provides strategic advice for a wide range of companies including airports, airlines, aircraft leasing companies, banks and IT suppliers.

Brendan gives frequent presentations, is an instructor on aviation courses and is often quoted by the international media. Recent television appearances include Bloomberg and CNBC. Brendan has a degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University in New York.

Claire Leleu
Senior Forecaster


Claire Leleu is a senior forecaster at EUROCONTROL –the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation–. She runs the STATFOR department (Statistics and Forecast) since 2012 and is responsible for the delivery of “objective” air traffic forecasts for every state in Europe, and beyond.

Miss Leleu joined worked from 2001, as a consultant for EUROCONTROL, developing complexity metrics in Air Traffic Capacity management domain that are now applied to benchmark Air Control Centres in Europe by the Performance Review bodies.

In 2008, she was appointed as a forecaster at EUROCONTROL Network Manager, delivering various market analyses and statistics to the Air Traffic Management community. She became an expert in air traffic forecasts and is then involved in various publications, including the “Challenges of Growth” studies.

Miss Leleu graduated from Paris-IX Dauphine University with Ph.D in Applied Mathematics. She is a member of the Dauphine University Alumni, the Royal Statistical Society and involved in the Forum for European Aerospace Market Analysis (global).

She is based at EUROCONTROL headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

Darius came to aviation in mid-2017 and brought his over 9 years’ experience in finance working for some of the

Russi Batliwala

Russi comes from an aviation family and worked for a number of commercial airlines before joining aircraft charter specialist Chapman Freeborn in 1987.

He took over the management of Chapman Freeborn Germany in 1990, followed by the group’s worldwide cargo product in 2000. During his 30 years with the company he has been involved in setting up a number of key global charter operations including subsidiary businesses in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America.

Since his appointment as CEO of the Chapman Freeborn Group in 2009, Russi has been instrumental in developing a vision and strategy for the company’s global expansion.

In addition to the group’s core aircraft chartering activities, Russi has overseen the strengthening of the company’s portfolio of subsidiary businesses which include hand-carry specialist Chapman Freeborn OBC, animal transport company Intradco Global, and flight operations provider Wings 24.

The group was further enhanced in 2017 with the acquisition of a majority shareholding in Magma Aviation – a specialist air cargo company operationally managing B747-400F aircraft.

In 2019, Chapman Freeborn was acquired by Avia Solutions Group – a global aviation holding company with subsidiaries engaged in aircraft maintenance, pilot training, ground handling and fuelling, aviation IT solutions and business aviation.

Thanos Pascalis

Thanos Pascalis studied Aeronautical Engineering in the UK, followed by a Masters in Air Transport Engineering from Cranfield Institute of Technology. He settled in Hatfield, UK, working for British Aerospace Commercial Aircraft within the Airworthiness section. Following that, he held Engineering Manager positions and assisted in the setting up of the first Greek private airlines South East European and Apollo Airlines. In 1996 he returned to the UK to join Monarch Aircraft Engineering in Luton as Customer Support Manager,
looking after the company’s third-party business.

Thanos returned to Greece again in 1999 for the startup of Aegean Airlines, taking the position of Technical Director, responsible among other things for the EASA Part 145 and CAMO approval of the company. In early 2009, Thanos was appointed Chief Operating Officer and Accountable Manager of the new private Olympic Air with responsibilities for both technical and flight operations. He also held the position of CEO within the separate Engineering entity owned by MIG.

In February 2011 was appointed CEO of Olympic Air.
In 2013 he was a founding member of Elix Aviation Capital in Dublin, a specialized Turboprop Lessor, taking up the position of COO and Board member.
In 2018 was appointed CEO/COO of Ellinair an Inclusive Tour carrier based in Thessaloniki.

Former CEO and Vice Chairman

Patee Sarasin is an aviation and travel industry pioneer. With an educational background in business administration and mass communication, he launched a career in advertising agency Lintas in 1983, then worked with NBC, the U.S. television network. In 1992, Patee was appointed CEO of Bates Advertising Thailand, which under his management became the fastest growing advertising agency in Thailand. In 2004, Patee became CEO of a new airline Nok Air. Under Patee’s leadership, Nok Air saw rapid growth in terms of revenue, passenger numbers, and destinations, becoming a renowned innovator in the low-cost market. Leaving Nok Air in mid-2017, Patee is now involved in a range of aviation, travel, and entertainment enterprises, grouped together under his DDG International group, based in Bangkok.

Agnès Leroux joined A4E as a Policy Director in August 2019, where she is responsible for aviation security, passenger data & border control, cargo, customs as well as ATC Strikes.

Agnès brings to A4E ten years of experience in EU public affairs, communications, advocacy campaigning, and coalition management. Prior to A4E, she worked in two political communications firms in Brussels where she advised clients on a broad range of EU policy topics, including transport (drones, new mobility services), digital policy, energy, and the environment as well as agriculture, fisheries, and industrial policy.

During her career, Agnès managed a variety of pan-European campaigns, advising large multinational corporations, trade associations, NGOs and SMEs.

Her first role in Brussels was as a trainee in the European Commission’s Secretariat General, overseeing the quality of Impact Assessments. She also had the opportunity to work on EU policy evaluation for the Secretariat General.

A French national, Agnès speaks fluent English and Italian, as well as conversational German. She holds a Master’s degree in “Politics and Government in the EU” from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE, London) and a Master’s degree in “Public Administration” from Sciences Po (Institut d’Etudes Politiques, Rennes). When she’s not in the office, Agnès can be found reading a book or enjoying her passion for dance and yoga.

Chor Chee Hoe is associated with Firefly Airlines since June 2012. He is an aircraft maintenance engineer who holds EASA Part 66 B1 License and CAA Malaysia license. Rahul Shah joined AAR in 1991 as a Development Engineer for AAR Engine Component Services in New York and Connecticut, USA.  He then rose to the rank of Program Manager, with responsibility for the sales and marketing activities of the Company’s engine component repair business.

Mr. Shah became Vice President of Sales and Marketing for AAR’s Asia Pacific region in 2000.  He was promoted to Managing Director of Asia Pacific Operations in 2002 and, with his technical expertise and international business acumen, the business grew seven-fold under his leadership.

Mr. Shah has now focused his attention on growing AAR’s presence in Africa, India and the Middle East, in addition to the Asia Pacific.  As Senior Vice President, Mr. Shah manages operations, sales and marketing efforts across these regions from an office in Singapore.

Mr. Shah earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a master’s degree in Business, Finance and Marketing, which he applies as he develops strategic programs to meet the needs of AAR’s customers around the world.

Professor David Yu is Chairman of China Aviation Valuation Advisors (CAVA) and Asia Aviation Valuation Advisors (AAVA) the only professional aviation valuation and advisory company in China and Asia. He is the only Senior ISTAT (International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading) Certified Aviation Appraiser in China and N. Asia and one of ~20 globally. He is a professor of practice in finance at New York University Shanghai and Stern School and is a recognized expert and thought leader in cross border investing, financing, valuation, real assets, and aviation. Following the 2001 terrorist attacks, I was let go from Virgin Atlantic and worked as a contractor in Europe and the Far East. Joined Ryanair in 2006 and was appointed the Standards Captain for the contract pilots. Involved in Line Training as well as a TRI/TRE on the 737-800. Joined Norwegian Air International as the CFI in 2017 flying the 737 Max and BAA Training as Head of Training in 2019.

Prior to this, he was Amazon’s Head of Human Resources (Asia Pacific & Middle East) for their International Consumer Business and Global Technology Development Centers in the region. Mr. Daniel Bircher is the Chief Executive Officer of Zurich Airport International Asia and is accountable for Zurich Airport’s regional office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Javier Gándara holds an Aeronautical Engineering Degree from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Since 2011 is Country Director for Spain, Portugal and The Netherlands in easyJet, having joined the company in 2007. He is also Chairman of ALA, the Association of Airlines flying in Spain, with close to 80 airlines members both national and international, representing all the different business
models, including 9 of the top 10 in terms of traffic. Before joining easyJet, he worked as Senior Manager for FedEx.

Javier also holds a Business Administration Degree by UNED, an Executive MBA from IE Business School, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Air Transport Management from City University in London. He recently published a book on the business model of
low-cost airlines with the title “Revolution in the Skies”.

Liene Freivalde has started her aviation experience as an interviewer at Riga Airport, continued with the check-in agent position and through more than 20 years in the industry has worked at different airport positions – ground handling, procurement, marketing, customer service and business development. Having a wide experience in airport operations and master’s degree in business management and international relations now she is Director of Riga Airport Aviation services and Business development department. Liene is responsible for strategic development of the airport aviation businesses, for route development, for improving passenger experience at the airport and for relationship with airlines and service providers.
